Damien's Bailey runs for ILH-record 370 yards in win

Damien senior Kama Bailey ran for five touchdowns and broke the Interscholastic League of Honolulu single-game record with 370 yards rushing in the Monarch's 54-40 victory over Pac-Five tonight at Aloha Stadium.Bailey, a 5-foot-9, 175-pound running back, broke the record of 343 yards by 'Iolani's Joe Igber against Pac-Five in 1998.
"It feels good," Bailey said. "It's my senior year. We had fun."
Bailey scored on runs of 38, 65, 21, 65 and 37 yards.
The 54-40 score was the 10th highest combined score in an ILH game with 94 points.
Damien finished 2-5. Pac-Five ended at 1-6.
Bailey's night included an apparent 77-yard touchdown run that was nullified by a penalty.
"That's part of the game," Bailey said. "You have to make the most out of it."
Bailey completed his season with 1,482 yards, which topped his 1,245 yards last season, an ILH best for a seven-game schedule.
Igber holds the ILH season record with 1,993 yards in 10 games.
The O'ahu Interscholastic Association game record is 350 yards by Kahuku's Mark Atuaia against Castle in 1990.
