The 4th East Asia Tea Culture Symposium takes place at the East-West Center tomorrow and Sunday.Dr. Genshitsu Sen, the 15th generation grand tea master of Kyoto's Chado Urasenke, will be in attendance.

Dr. Sen, who graduated from the University of Hawai'i, says that "the custom of drinking tea has transcended the simple act of imbibing a beverage and has grown into a rich tea culture. In Japan, it is now a very distinct culture known as chado, or way of tea."
The symposium will start at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow with a morning tea service in the Jakuan Tea Room at UH, followed by opening remarks by Dr. Robert Huey, director of UH's Center for Japanese Studies.
