Headed to the First Friday Downtown gallery walk tonight?

Here's a quartet of Chinatown to-dos you may want to consider checking out with your in-bed-at-midnight friends till 9 p.m., and your late-evening club-crawling companions afterward.

FIRST FRIDAY AT ONG KING ARTS CENTER

Where: 184 N. King St.

When: 9 p.m.-2 a.m. (gallery opens for art opening at 5 p.m.)

It'll cost ya: $10 (after 9 p.m.)

Why go? Simply put, co-owners See Ellauri and Jonathan Heraux have a tendency to throw in everything but the wood floors when putting together the entertainment lineup for their monthly First Friday get-together. Tonight, there's Austin, Texas-based spoken-word poet Queen Sheba, "eclectic celestial guitar" work from San Antonio, Texas, native Mani Sierra, juggler The Amazing TJ, theater from the cast of "The Devil and Billy Markham," and music from Randy the Assassin, Quadraphonix, DJ JOULz and MC See himself. The evening's art opening features the works of the Explicit VisUaLs collective.

Sounds tailor-made for: That friend who, unasked, burns you mix CDs of Dave Matthews Band, Cafe Tacuba, William Shatner, Del the Funky Homosapien, Achanak and Brand New Heavies tunes.

LOCAL ARTISTS LIVE MUSIC JAM

Where: Kim Taylor Reece Gallery, 1142 Bethel St.

When: 6-9 p.m.

It'll cost ya: Nothing

Why go? The debut of photos from Reece's sojourn to Moloka'i's Kalaupapa Peninsula is reason enough for admirers to stop by. The rest of us, however, think it's entertaining to see how many known or obscure local musicians Reece can fit into three hours of live jamming. Dropping by tonight are Sean Tiwanak & Friends, Lei Medeiros, bassist Ron Cameron, so-called "Mr. Rock 'n' Roll" Kevin Jones, Barefoot Bob, vocalist Anjj and others. Have a glass of wine and prepare to feel the love.

Sounds tailor-made for: Art collectors who visit the T platforms in Boston just to see the buskers.

SUBPHONIX

Where: Mercury Lounge, 1154 Forth Street Mall (entrance on Chaplain Lane)

When: 10 p.m.-2 a.m.

It'll cost ya: $5

Why go? The cast and crew of Pacific Jungle throw together the town's best drum-n-bass monthly. The night's loyal and very-dedicated-to-the-cause patrons are crazy friendly — on one visit, a stranger bought me a beer and asked his "girlfriends" to hang at my table just because I looked "very lonely" — and always make sure the Merc's dance floor is bursting with jungle love. Resident DJs Krucial, Thread and SCIV have intimate knowledge of their crates. Tonight, Enemy and Kelvin Zero rock the mikes.

Sounds tailor-made for: Drum-n-bass heads and people who need people.

THE SPACIFICS AT GET FRESH!

Where: Indigo Eurasian Cuisine, 1121 Nu'uanu Ave.

When: 10 p.m.-2 a.m.

It'll cost ya: $10

Why go? To get your daily, weekly, monthly or whatever live hip-hop fix, courtesy of one of our town's finest collectives, and simultaneously support the talented underground hip-hop scene. The Spacifics' soul-filled hip-hop is heavy on sonic experimentalism and positive lyricism, and it's also designed for mellowed-out, dance-floor groovin'. Brave the line outside, pay your cover, head to the Green Room and order a gin martini. Seph 1, K-Town, E-Rock, Sean Jovi and DJ Packo will take care of the rest.

Sounds tailor-made for: Schoolin' that poor, unschooled T.I. and T-Pain-loving buddy of yours who believes good hip-hop is anything in heavy rotation on Da Bomb.
