TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Amazing Journey: The Story of The Who," 6 p.m., VH1. The most amazing part of this journey is the end. We see Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend on stage. They are the surviving half of The Who. They are friends and colleagues, whose work blends seamlessly. And they are total opposites. Daltrey was a tough sheet-metal worker; Townshend was fragile, physically and emotionally. They often fought with words; when Daltrey added fists, he was fired. He soon was asked back and showed an extraordinary skill with Townshend's lyrics. Another great singer, Eddie Vedder, admits he assumed Daltrey wrote the songs. This well-made film takes us from the early days with the late Keith Moon and John Entwistle to the modern success.

"Ralphie May: Prime Cut," 7 p.m., Comedy Central. Ralphie May had some great moments on the way to finishing second in the first "Last Comic Standing." Now he gets an hour to himself.

OF NOTE

"Mission: Impossible" (1996), 5 p.m., AMC. This big-budget epic has top talent as director (Brian De Palma), star (Tom Cruise) and co-star (Vanessa Redgrave). It has a great action scene in a restaurant and, alas, some moments that are wildly unlikely.

"CSI: Miami," 7 p.m., CBS. A model is killed, shortly after someone paid $60,000 for a date with her, in a charity auction. Police start to wonder if the whole charity is a phony.

"Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery" (1997, E); "Batman Returns" (1992, ABC Family); and "Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl" (2003, USA); all 8 p.m.. Here are three more popular films that scored at the box office.

"CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," 8 p.m., CBS. There are severe beatings, including one that Gary tries, unsuccessfully, to break up.

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," 9 p.m., NBC. A kidnapped girl has been found in the trunk of a car. That leads to a dangerous encounter.

"Saturday Night Live," 10:29 p.m., NBC. Yes, news guys can be funny. Brian Williams hosts; Feist is the musical guest.
