Red Cross assisting in Kailua after homes flooded

Advertiser Staff

The American Red Cross sent out volunteers today to help Kailua residents flooded by the early-morning rains.

About 10 to 15 homes off Kawailoa Road were flooded this morning. Most of the water is on the Lanikai end of the beach park and the park's pavilions are flooded. Debris is blocking the drainage off the beach park, but the road is open to motorists.

Caseworkers are at Kailua Beach Park to ensure that residents have shelter, clothing and food. The Red Cross, which is not a government agency, helps families in times of disaster.
