Snow, ice in Mauna Kea summit area close access road

A snow-capped Mauna Kea on the Big Island made for a wintry scene today. The snowy and icy conditions, however, closed the mountain's access road. TIM WRIGHT | Special to The Advertiser

The Mauna Kea Access Road is closed to the public at Hale Pohaku due to snow and ice on the summit roads.

Snow removal operations are under way this morning.
