High surf warning for south shores

Advertiser Staff

A large south swell will continue to produce large waves, 10 to 15 feet, along south-facing shores through Tuesday, the National Weather Service said. A high surf warning remains in effect until 6 p.m.

Surf along north shores will subside from 10 to 14 feet overnight to 6 to 9 feet today, the Weather Service said, and surf along west-facing shores will drop from 6 to 10 feet to 4 to 6 feet.

Surf along east facing shores will be 2 to 4 feet.

Buoys south of the islands indicate that a large south swell will build this evening, reaching warning levels, and continue through today. The large south swell will subside slowly on Tuesday. The current moderate northwest swell will subside today.
