'Party Hawaii' author at Pacific Home tomorrow

Advertiser Staff

Hawai'i author Kaui Philpotts will be appearing at Pacific Home from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7, to sign her new book, "Party Hawai'i."

The event is free and open to the public at Pacific Home, 420 Ward Ave. Pacific Home is also taking RSVPs. Please call the store at 596-5338.

Philphotts' hardcover, full-color book, in bookstores and on sale at Pacific Home, provides hints on various types of soirees, from dining outdoors to throwing a personalized party at a restaurant. The book, published by Mutual Publishing, includes plans, recipes, sample food and drink menus, timelines, priceless tips and fabulous photography by Kaz Tanabe and David Franzen.

While at Pacific Home, Philpotts will share insight about putting together a book that features nine parties, created by the author, her friends and family, ranging from an office baby shower to a Chinese New Year celebration. The author will talk about how the book illustrates these occasions while exploring Hawaii's uniqueness and traditions.

"It's all about today in Hawai'i and how we entertain. We bring together traditions from the past, mixing different cultures but with a forward style — sophisticated, casual. Think drinking lychee martinis barefoot on the lanai," Philpotts said, in a press release.
