A Circuit Court jury has found John K. Lorenzo Jr. guilty of murdering off-duty deputy sheriff Daniel Browne-Sanchez during a botched nightclub robbery Feb. 10.

The jury delivered the verdict this afternoon after deliberating the case for more than a week.

Browne-Sanchez, 27, was working as a bartender's assistant at Osake Sushi Bar and Lounge when the crime occurred. He was shot while attempting to subdue Lorenzo. Other employees of the nightclub grabbed Lorenzo after the fatally-wounded Browne-Sanchez fell on the assailant.

The jury acquitted Lorenzo of charges of attempted first-degree murder of more than one person related to gunshots fired at one of the nightclub's employees and at Brown-Sanchez. He was found guilty of reckless endangerment in connection with the shot fired at the employee.

Also, he was found not guilty of a first-degree robbery charge.

But he was found guilty of other charges of kidnapping, illegal firearms possession, and possession of a silencer.
