For fans who haven't had enough University of Hawai'i football during this fall of winning and wide-eyed optimism, sports author J. David Miller has written the authorized version of the program that head coach June Jones rescued from the bottom of the college football barrel. "Hawai'i Warrior Football: A Story of Faith, Hope and Redemption," (Bess Press, $24.95), is Miller's 304-page history of the program under Jones. The prose is a bit purple at times, but the photographs are priceless.

Often when sexually abused children are taken out of their homes and placed in the foster-care system, they have to leave behind all their belongings. Enter the Children's Alliance of Hawaii, a nonprofit organization that provides these children with necessities — a rolling duffel bag with three sets of new clothing, school supplies, toiletries and other essentials. The bags are given to children entering the system through the Children's Justice Center of O'ahu. Want to help out?
