There will be more sunrise at KGMB9, starting Jan. 7.

The CBS affiliate, which launched "Sunrise on KGMB9" on Sept. 17 from 5 to 7 a.m., announced on-air this morning that it will expand to broadcast from 4:30 to 8 a.m. next year.

Roving reporter Ramsay Wharton will anchor from 4:30 to 5 a.m., with meteorologist Jeff Booth providing weather and traffic reports and Howard Dicus focusing on local and national business reports.

Current anchors Steve Uyehara and Grace Lee will preside from 5 to 8 a.m., with entertainment-feature reports from Billy V of 105 KINE and Hollywood news from Mike Evans.

Said news director Chris Archer: "Hawai'i works hard and gets up early; the roads are coming alive at 5 a.m. so we know people are waking up well before that. We need to be there until 8 a.m. with the latest news, weather and traffic."

"Sunrise on KGMB9" is the only morning newscast with real-time close-captioning.

The network "CBS Early Show"will follow, from 8 to 10 a.m.
