Hawaii stocks tumble, joining broader market's slide

The Bloomberg-Honolulu Advertiser Hawai'i Index tumbled as most local stocks followed the broader market's plunge.

The 11-member stock index fell 3.65 points to 91.78 as 10 stocks declined and one gained.

Leading the decliners at the close was Bank of Hawaii, which fell

$2.35 to $48.34.

Central Pacific Financial slid $1.40, or 6.9 percent, to $18.79. It closed regular trading at its lowest price in more than five years.

Barnwell Industries shed 11 percent of its stock value in falling the most on a percentage basis in two and a half years. It was off $1.71 to $14.29.
