Ex-Waimea star Dizon on list for top defensive honor

University of Colorado linebacker and former Waimea High star Jordan Dizon has been named one of the 15 semifinalists for the Chuck Bednarik Award for the Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year.

Dizon, who also was named one of 10 semifinalists for the Butkus Award, joins such stars as LSU lineman Glenn Dorsey, USC tackle Sedrick Ellis and Ohio State linebacker James Laurinatis.

The announcement of the winner will be made during the Home Depot College Football Awards Show Dec. 6 on ESPN.

Three finalists for the award will be in attendance for the ESPN broadcast.
