New deputy police chief named on Kauai

LIHU'E, Kaua'i — Kaua'i's Chief of Police Darryl Perry announced today the selection of Lt. Mark Begley as the new deputy chief of police.

Begley was selected following a written exam, an administrative exercise and an interview on critical issues facing law enforcement, the county and the Kaua'i Police Department.

The selection committee included: Perry, Honolulu's Deputy Chief of Police Michael Tucker and Maui's Deputy Chief of Police Gary Yabuta.

Begley will be sworn in at 10 a.m. on Nov. 20. The ceremony will take place at the Emergency Operating Center, at 3990 Ka'ana St., in the same building as police headquarters.
