Governor's Maui advisory panel to discuss health care

WAILUKU, Maui – The governor's Maui Community Advisory Council will meet at 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at the Cameron Center, Auditorium, located at 95 Mahalani Street in Wailuku. The public is invited to attend. 

The meeting will include presentations by the following individuals:

iRonald Terry, administrator of the State Health Planning and Development Agency. This state agency, which is administratively attached to the state Department of Health, is responsible for promoting accessibility for all the people of the state to quality health care services at reasonable cost. 

iJan Shields, founder, Association for Improved Healthcare on Maui.

Madge Schaefer, chair of the Advisory Council, will discuss issues to be included in a priority list for 2008, which will be submitted to the governor.

Gov. Linda Lingle created community advisory councils to give the neighbor islands a stronger voice in state government. The Maui Community Advisory Council holds monthly public meetings to seek community input and advise the governor of important issues on Maui, public priorities, and recommendations for state boards and commissions.

Members of the governor's Maui Community Advisory Council are:  Kathryn Ghean, John Henry, Barbara-Ann Keller, Carl Lindquist, Lori Ululani Sablas, Madge Schaefer (chair), Kalei Sombelon (vice chair), Shan Steinmark, and Gail K. Takeuchi.
