Makakilo's Centeio captures Xcel Pro at Sunset Beach

Makakilo's Joel Centeio earned his first professional surfing victory on the North Shore today, winning a four-man final in the Xcel Pro at Sunset Beach.

Centeio, 24, earned $10,000 for his victory in the World Qualifying Series meet.

Mason Ho was second, followed by Makua Rothman and Alex Gray.

The final was held in 4- to 8-foot surf.

The Vans Triple Crown of Surfing begins with holding period for the Reef Hawaiian Pro at Hale'iwa Alii Beach Park on Nov. 12.
