Some of Hawai'i's elite pre-college classical performers will be showcased in a pair of "From the Top" tapings — Wednesday on O'ahu and Nov. 16 on Maui — of the National Public Radio show.
The concerts, which also include musicians from the Mainland, will be broadcast nationally in January. Host Christopher O'Riley, a classical performer and interpreter of modern rock music, will offer a solo show on Monday at Punahou School's Dillingham Hall. He will accompany some of the "From the Top" musicians on piano.
WEDNESDAY'S PROGRAM
Asia Doike, violin, 17, Hono-lulu; a winner of the program's $10,000 Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship.

Hawaii Youth Opera Chorus's elite Na Leo Kuho'okahi ensemble, 17 sophomore, junior and senior girls conducted by Nola Nahulu.
