NFL: Saints LT Brown leaves with apparent knee injury

Associated Press

NEW ORLEANS — Saints starting left tackle Jammal Brown appeared to injure his left knee and had to be helped off the field late in the first quarter of New Orleans' game against the St. Louis Rams today.

Brown was blocking when middle linebacker Will Witherspoon came by on a blitz and sacked quarterback Drew Brees. Brees was knocked backward onto the back of Brown's lower leg, leaving Brown contorted in an awkward position for several seconds.

Brown was carted to the locker room for treatment. There was no immediate word on his condition.

It was the second knee injury this year for the former Pro Bowl pick, who missed most of training camp with a bone bruise on his right knee.
