Honolulu Symphony offers holiday promotions

Advertiser Staff

The Honolulu Symphony is offering two discount programs as the holidays approach.

In honor of America's Armed Forces, the Symphony is offering a special 50 percent discount off all holiday concert tickets to military and their families, including Reservists, National Guard and retirees. Military discount tickets for concerts such as Motown Christmas and Burt Bacharach start from as low as $8.50.

In addition, for the show by pop music legends The Four Tops and The Spinners, who join the Honolulu Symphony Pops for a Motown Christmas at the Blaisdell Arena on Dec. 7 and 8, concertgoers are invited to bring a toy to the concert to donate to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. All toy donors receive a 20 percent discount coupon off a Symphony ticket purchase.

Other holiday shows:

On Dec. 29 and 30, Maestro Andreas Delfs conducts Beethoven's Ninth Symphony in two concerts that ring in the New Year with one of music's greatest masterpieces. A holiday tradition around the world, Beethoven's Ninth inspires concertgoers to greet the New Year with hope and optimism.

On Jan. 4, 5 and 6, Burt Bacharach returns to Honolulu for three concerts with the Honolulu Symphony Pops. Bacharach is creator of such classics as "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head," "What the World Needs Now Is Love," "The Look Of Love," and "That's What Friends Are For."

Tickets are available from the Honolulu Symphony Box Office at the Dole Cannery: please call the Box Office at 792-2000 (days) or 524-0815 ext. 245 (evenings) for more information, or visit www.honolulusymphony.com. Tickets are also for sale at all Ticketmaster outlets and all Times Supermarkets. The Honolulu Symphony offers a 20% discount to seniors and students.
