CBKB: UCLA's Collison to miss at least 2 more games

Associated Press

LOS ANGELES — Darren Collison will miss at least two more games for No. 2 UCLA while the preseason All-American guard recovers from a sprained left knee.

The Bruins host Youngstown State today in a first-round game of the CBE Classic. They'll play another game tomorrow night, with the top team in the West region advancing to the semifinals Nov. 19 in Kansas City. Also in the bracket are Weber State and Cal State-San Bernardino.

Collison will run on a treadmill today. If a doctor gives him the go-ahead, the junior could do some floor workouts and possibly begin practicing Thursday, coach Ben Howland said.

"He's doing better. He will be out for sure on Monday and Tuesday," the coach said.

Sophomore Russell Westbrook started in place of Collison in the Bruins' season-opening victory against Portland State on Friday. Westbrook committed six turnovers.

"Overall, he's got to cut down on his turnovers," Howland said. "He's got to make better decisions. But he'll get better."
