Study finds romance spurs most last-minute vacations

About 64 percent of last-minute travelers are most likely to slip off with a romantic partner for late-breaking trips, according to an informal online survey.

The second most popular travel option was that one in four have left on last-minute trips with family, followed by traveling with friends at 11 percent. Only 1 percent of respondents cited traveling with co-workers on last-minute trips.

Nearly 1,000 people recently revealed their last-minute travel behaviors, preferences and perceptions to www.LastMinuteTravel.com in two consumer surveys that the company will use for consumer marketing.

The company's first survey results in August show an overwhelming preference in trip party composition, when organizing a vacation, four in 10 travelers consider a trip to be last minute when planning within a time frame of less than one week.

In a close race, 36 percent of last-minute vacations last three to four nights, according to the company's recently released survey results from the September poll.
