Verizon Wireless expands local broadband service

Verizon Wireless today said it expanded its wireless broadband network to include several new areas on the Big Island, Maui, Kaua'i, and O'ahu. The expansion enables more customers to access e-mail, corporate data, the Internet and more at faster speeds.

The wireless broadband network coverage area in the state now extends to:

  • Hawai'i: Ninole, Waimea, Mamalahoa Highway and Saddle Road.

  • Kaua'i: Pacific Missile Range Facility and Waimea.

  • Maui: Kula and Mokulele highways.

  • O'ahu: Expanded coverage around Honolulu, La'ie, Makaha, Wai'anae, Turtle Bay Resorts, Kalama Valley, and along highways 13, Pali, Farrington, and Likelike.

    The company broadband service provides average download speeds of 600 kilobits (kbps) per second to 1.4 megabits and average upload speeds of 500-800 kbps.
