Halekulani hosts cocktail challenge Friday

On Friday, three of the country's top mixologists will compete in the Travel + Leisure Beverage Arts Challenge at the Halekulani. This past summer, more than 250 bartenders submitted cocktail recipes featuring Grand Marnier. Judges winnowed them down to three contenders, who will showcase their skills in this finale overseen by King of Cocktails Dale DeGroff.The event happens 6 to 9 p.m. and admission is $65, which includes two cocktails and hors d'oeuvres.
Then on Saturday, 8 to 10 p.m., Dale DeGroff and the three finalists — Patricia Richards, Matt Martinez and Sierra Lesjack — will shake and stir behind the bar at Lewers Lounge. Entry is free (but the cocktails aren't) and the dress code is "evening chic."
