The Children's Alliance of Hawaii is looking for some Christmas elves to help with its annual "Christmas Angel Project."

The Christmas Angel Project is aimed at providing special holiday gifts to sexually abused children and their siblings, specifically families living in poverty.

Each cutout Angel contains a wish from a child that the Children's Alliance or a partnering organization serves. Schools, companies, civic and church groups, and individuals can make a difference in the community by sponsoring one or multiple Angels.

Donors are asked to contribute gifts for the children no later than Dec. 10, so volunteers may deliver the gifts by Christmas.

"This is one of the most rewarding programs we have, and each year we are incredibly grateful for the generosity and aloha shown by the people of our state," said Alfred Herrera, president of the Children's Alliance of Hawaii, in a statement. "The stability that most of us have in our lives at Christmas time is something these children are without. There is no guarantee of food on the table, a tree with presents under it or family members that care for them. This program helps makes Christmas a special and memorable occasion as the children work to heal from the trauma of sexual abuse."

The Children's Alliance of Hawaii is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide care and support for sexually abused children. The organization assists the Children's Justice Center and serves sexually abused children from toddlers through teens with therapeutic and enhancement programs.
