Hawaii Maritime Center has new hours

The Bishop Museum,s Hawai'i Maritime Center, at Pier 7 on Honolulu Harbor, has changed its hours of operation. The center is now open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, except Christmas Day, when it is closed.

The center focuses on Hawaii's rich maritime history through exhibits, displays and rare maritime artifacts. It offers visitors a look back at Hawaii's extensive maritime history — from its discovery by Polynesian navigators 1,500 years ago, to contact with western culture and the effects of whaling. Opened in 1988, the Hawai'i Maritime Center is a community resource for educational, cultural and social programs.

Hawai'i Maritime Center: Pier 7, Honolulu Harbor (across from Aloha Tower Marketplace), 521-2829, adults $7.50; youth (4-12) $4.50; seniors (65 +) $6. Members and children 3 and under are free; special rates for Military. Children 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult. www.bishopmuseum.org
