Women's pro surfing final happening today in Haleiwa

The final day of the women's division of the Reef Hawaiian Pro surfing contest is running today at Hale'iwa Ali'i Beach.

The second round started at 9 a.m., and subsequent rounds will run throughout the day. The final heat is scheduled to start around 3:30 p.m.

Hawai'i surfers in the contest include shark attack survivor Bethany Hamilton, and World Championship Tour competitors Megan Abubo, Rochelle Ballard and Melanie Bartels.

Defending world champion Layne Beachley of Australia is also in the field.

The contest is the first in the women's Vans Triple Crown of Surfing Series.
