Results of autism study in Hawaii to be discussed today

A groundbreaking autism hyperbaric study that 20 local families participated in will be the topic of a news conference today at 10 a.m. at the Hyperbaric Medicine Center in Honolulu.

According to a news release from the center, the recently completed study yielded promising results in the recovery of children with autism. Children ages 3 to 7 participated in the study.

The news release said Hawai'i has seen an increase in the prevalence of autism of more than 2,700 percent since 1992, and the numbers are rapidly increasing.

The study's results will be discussed today at the news conference and some of the families involved will be on hand.

The Hyperbaric Medicine Center is located at 1130 N. Nimitz Highway, Suite A-140.
