Superferry barge damages Kahului Harbor

Advertiser Staff

Minor damage was reported at Maui's Kahului Harbor when a mooring line holding a barge used to move vehicles onto and off the Hawaii Superferry snapped on Wednesday, according to a state Transportation Department office.

DOT spokesman Scott Ishikawa said the incident occurred at 4 p.m. Two tug boats relocated the barge to another mooring area and the incident did not disrupt harbor operations, Ishikawa said.
