City to operate on holiday schedule Thanksgiving Day

City and County of Honolulu government offices will be closed Thursday (Nov. 22) in observance of Thanksgiving, a state and federal holiday.

i Emergency ambulance, fire, lifeguard and police services will be provided.

i The People's Open Markets will not be held.

i City golf courses, the Honolulu Zoo and botanical gardens will be open.

i Refuse collections will be made as usual and landfills/convenience centers will be open.

i Handi-Van service will be available.

i City buses will operate on a Sunday schedule.

i These traffic and parking regulations will be in effect:

• On-street parking will be free, except for the meters on Kalakaua Avenue along Kapiolani Park.

• Parking will be permitted in tow-away zones where it is allowed on holidays.

• There will be no coning of commuter traffic lanes.

• Traffic signals at Kalakaua Avenue and Kapiolani will be three-phase to permit mauka-bound traffic to turn left onto Kapiolani Boulevard.

• Parking in municipal lots will not be free.
