Hawaii players in MAAC volleyball final on ESPNU

Advertiser Staff

Today's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference women's volleyball championship match features several Hawai'i players, and will be televised live on ESPNU at 2 p.m.

Kathi Kobayashi, a Punahou graduate, is the starting libero for top-seeded Siena (23-6). Teammate Kau'i Robello, also a Punahou graduate, is a defensive specialist and backup setter.

Siena faces second-seeded and host Fairfield (21-10), which has three St. Joseph graduates in Lindsey Lee, Jazmin Pa'akaula and Ashley Hanohano. Also playing for Fairfield is Hawai'i Baptist graduate Brandi Higa.

Located in Fairfield, Conn., Fairfield has not lost a home match to an MAAC opponent since Oct. 8, 2003, when the Stags fell to Marist. Fairfield has gone 30-0 at home versus the league since.

Siena defeated Fairfield for the last two MAAC titles. Both teams split their two meetings this season.

ESPNU is digital cable channel 219.
