High-surf advisory issued for east-facing shores

Advertiser Staff

A high-surf advisory has been issued for east-facing shores of O'ahu, Kaua'i, Moloka'i, Maui, Ni'ihau, and the Big Island through 4 p.m. Tuesday, the National Weather Service said.

Surf along the eastern shores of these islands is expected to reach 8 feet to 12 feet today with some locally higher sets and will remain that way until it starts to gradually decrease Tuesday evening. The surf should peak this evening.

Good surf can also be found along northern shores, where surf will be 8 feet to 12 feet today.

If you're more into the small to moderate surf, west-facing shores will see surf 3 feet to 6 feet while south-facing shores will be 3 feet or less.

A northwest swell is expected to arrive Tuesday with advisory-level surf along north-facing shores Wednesday through Thursday. A large swell will arrive Friday with surf approaching the warning level of 25 feet for the north shores.
