POLICE BEAT
Woman arrested in knife threat

Advertiser Staff

A 53-year-old Makiki woman was arrested yesterday for allegedly threatening a police officer with a 12-inch kitchen knife.

The woman was arrested at 2:50 p.m. at the Kamehameha IV Road residence of her ex-boyfriend and booked in connection with first-degree terroristic threatening.

She was released pending further investigation last night.

Police went to investigate a domestic argument at the Kamehameha IV Road residence, where the male resident asked officers to remove the woman from his home.

The woman, who was in the bedroom, allegedly lunged at an officer with a knife. Police eventually talked the woman into surrendering.

No injuries were reported.

KALIHI MAN MAY FACE CHARGES

Charges are pending against a 29-year-old Kalihi man who broke the jaw of a man he allegedly punched during an early morning brawl yesterday at Royal Hawaiian and Kalakaua avenues in Waikiki.

The 23-year-old victim was not a participant in the fight, police said.

The injured man told police he and an acquaintance encountered a large group engaged in a fight.

As they were walking past the fight, the suspect allegedly punched the victim for no reason.

The suspect was arrested at 3:54 a.m. on suspicion of second-degree assault.

He was not charged but was still in police custody at the main station cellblock last night.
