Advertiser Staff

A 27-year-old Ma'ili man was arrested early today for allegedly punching and choking his wife and shattering the windshield of her vehicle.

Police were called to the Kaukama Road residence and arrested the man at the scene at 3:25 a.m. The suspect was booked for felony abuse of a family member and first-degree criminal property damage.

The woman, 23, was treated for minor injuries suffered from the shattered windshield fragments.

During an argument at 1 a.m., the woman said she was punched and choked by her husband. She attempted to drive off but said her husband jumped on the hood and damaged the windshield.

According to Hawai'i Criminal Justice Data Center records, the suspect has two prior convictions.

The man was being held at the main police station cellblock tonight pending charges.
