Kapiolani sewer work will take holiday hiatus

Advertiser Staff

Crews will take away equipment and reopen lanes along Kapi'olani Boulevard by Thanksgiving Day, in time for the start of the holiday shopping rush.

Work to replace water and sewer lines along the thoroughfare will start up again in mid-January.

The suspension of work along Kapi'olani means the return of morning and afternoon contraflow lanes. Drivers will also be allowed to turn left into businesses.

Mayor Mufi Hannemann announced the expected suspension of the project today at a news conference.

"You'll be able to have much more convenient and easier access," Hannemann said. "I think this should help."
