Donations sought for Thanksgiving event in Chinatown

Advertiser Staff

The Kau Kau Wagon is accepting donations of clothing, shoes, gift certificates and treats to distribute at its annual Thanksgiving celebration on Saturday.

The event will kick off at 11 a.m. at Chinatown Gateway Park. Last year, more than 700 people turned out for a holiday meal. Many were homeless or needy.

Donations for the needy can be dropped off anytime during the Saturday event. Also, monetary donations to the nonprofit are accepted at any Bank of Hawaii branch.

The Kau Kau Wagon serves meals to the hungry throughout the year. This year, Lt. Gov. James "Duke" Aiona will attend its Thanksgiving celebration.
