Federal agency holds investor forums in Hawaii

Advertiser Staff

The largest nongovernment agency regulating the nation's securities industry will hold free investor forums throughout the state next week.

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority will host general investor forums with guest speaker U.S. Sen. Daniel Akaka Nov. 27-29 in Honolulu, Lahaina and South Kohala on the Big Island.

Akaka will give an overview of legislation affecting the financial services industry while FINRA representatives will share information on where to turn for guidance on investing.

"Events such as these help empower individuals and families to better prepare for retirement, save for children's college education, and achieve other financial goals," Akaka said.

Dates, times and locations include:

  • Nov. 27 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Sheraton Maui Resort.

  • Nov. 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

  • Nov. 29 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel.
