Advertiser Staff

State cross country champions Kristin Ali Keith of Mililani and Bryce Jenkins of Leilehua have received financial assistance from the Honolulu Marathon to participate in the Foot Locker Western Region Cross Country Championships.

The race will be held Dec. 1 in Walnut, Calif.

Keith, a sophomore, will race in the sophomore race. Jenkins, a junior and two-time state champion, will competed in the seeded race. The top eight finishers in the seeded race advance to the national championships Dec. 8 in San Diego.

The Honolulu Marathon will also help cover costs for one adult to travel with each runner.

In 1999, Punahou's Victoria Chang finished third at the regional meet and went on to win the nationals.

She is the only runner from Hawai'i to win the national meet. She went on to compete at Stanford and Hawai'i.
