UH softball gets four commitments, two from Hawaii

Advertiser Staff

The University of Hawai'i softball team received commitments from four athletes, including two Hawai'i players, for the 2008-09 season.

Moanalua's Sarah Robinson and Kamehameha Schools' Dara Pagaduan join Californians Kelly Majam and Stephanie Ricketts as future Rainbow Wahine.

Robinson, younger sister of All-American Kate Robinson, is an Advertiser All-State selection as a pitcher. She was 16-5 with a 1.00 ERA and hit .425 last season.

Pagaduan can play either middle field position and third place. She was an Interscholastic League of Honolulu honorable mention selection in 2007 after hitting .436. In 2006 she was an ILH first-team member.

Majam, a southpaw from Pine Valley, Calif., can play outfield or pitch. Ricketts is a 6 foot right-handed pitcher/first baseman.

"I'm really excited about this group of 'blue-chip' athletes who will help sustain the high-level of play that we have attained the last couple of seasons," Hawai'i coach Bob Coolen said.
