Tia Carrere among those on hand for Emme DVD launch

Advertiser Staff

When TV host-producer Emme Tomimbang appears at a DVD signing for her "Mabuhay With Aloha" release from noon 1 to 1 p.m. Saturday at Borders Book & Music at Pearlridge, she'll have a couple of celebrity pals on hand.

Little Albert Maligmat, former singer with the Society of Seven, will perform; Hollywood actress Tia Carrere, a former Islander, will also be on hand.

Tomimbang also will appear at three other Border stores:

-- From 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Waikele Center.

-- From noon to 1 p.m. Sunday at Ward Centre.

-- From 4 to 5 p.m. Dec. 1 at Windward Mall.

"Mabuhay With Aloha" is a documentary that explores the Filipino-American experience in Hawaii — from immigration of the first sakada (sugar cane plantation workers) first arrived here from the Philippines up to the recent centennial observance, with vintage footage and photographs of pioneers, achievers and common folk in the Filipino community on Oahu, the Big Island, Maui, Kau'i and Lanai.
