NFL: Jaguars sign safety Thompson for added depth

Associated Press

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars signed safety Lamont Thompson to a one-year contract today.

Thompson was released by Miami last month after signing with the team Sept. 11. He played in three games with the Dolphins and made one special teams tackle.

Thompson, a second-round draft pick by Cincinnati in 2002, played the last four seasons with Tennessee. The Titans released him during the final roster cut in September. He has 234 career tackles, nine interceptions and one sack.

The Jaguars signed him to add depth behind starters Reggie Nelson and Sammy Knight.
