Advertiser Staff

A 50-year-old Kapahi woman died after falling over a cliff behind her home on Kahuna Road, Kauai County officials said yesterday.

Linda Lemke was reported missing Monday evening at around 7:12 pm. Patrol officers responded and conducted an initial search in Kapahi in areas frequented by Lemke.

Detectives were called to the scene at around 10:30 pm to assist with the search.

At daybreak, the victim's husband set out to find her in an area that was not accessible at night and located her body at the bottom of a 100-ft. cliff behind her home.

Rescue specialists from the Lihue fire station and detectives arrived at the scene shortly after the victim was found. The victim was lifted out of the area and taken to Wilcox Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police are continuing their investigation of the incident. No foul play is suspected.

An autopsy is being conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
