Dead motorcyclist identified as Schofield man

Advertiser Staff

A motorcyclist killed Wednesday in a crash on the H-2 Freeway has been identified as David Schoof, 23, of Wahiawa, the Honolulu Medical Examiners office said today.

Schoof, an Army man stationed at Schofield Barracks, was heading south-bound on H-2 at around 1 p.m. when he lost control of his 2005 Honda motorcycle.

The motorcycle spun out of control, striking one guardrail and then another before hitting a large rock and a light pole. The victim was not wearing a helmet, according to police, who listed speed as a factor in the crash.

Cause of death was attributed to "multiple blunt force injuries due to motorcycle collision," the medical examiner's office said. The manner of death was listed as an accident.
