Kyle Weaver added 13 points and Aron Baynes grabbed nine rebounds as Washington State (5-0) dominated the shorter Delta Devils from the opening buzzer.

Carl Lucas, at 6-foot-5 one of MVSU's tallest players, scored 18 points to lead the Delta Devils (0-6).

It was Washington State's best defensive showing since holding Idaho to 23 points in 1948. The Cougars held MVSU to just nine points in the second half and 27.9 percent shooting.

Mississippi Valley had no players to match the height of WSU's post players, and the Cougars outrebounded the Delta Devils, 38-23.

MVSU also failed to score from the outside, going 0-for-15 from 3-point range. Washington State was a little better, going 3-for-15 from 3-point range.

The Cougars also made 24-of-30 free throws, while Mississippi Valley was just 2-of-9 from the line.

The Cougars jumped to a 17-6 lead behind six points by Robbie Cowgill.

After the Delta Devils closed to 19-13, Derrick Low scored the first five points in an 11-0 WSU run. Mississippi Valley was held scoreless for more than five minutes to fall behind 30-13.

Low, an 'Iolani alum, finished with eight points.

Washington State led 34-17 at halftime.

The Cougars opened the second half with an 13-0 run to take a 47-17 lead. The Delta Devils were scoreless until nearly seven minutes were gone in the second, missing their first six shots.

Over an 18-minute span of the first and second halves, the Delta Devils scored only seven points, and Washington State coach Tony Bennett made heavy use of his bench. But the Cougars still outscored Mississippi Valley 37-9 in the second.

Washington State, enjoying the highest ranking in team history, is now 12-0 in November under Bennett, who is in his second season.
