Warriors move up to No. 12 in BCS Standings

Advertiser Staff

The undefeated University of Hawai'i football team moved up three spots to No. 12 in the Bowl Championship Series standings released today.

Hawai'i, the only remaining unbeaten team in major college football, needs to finish in the top 12 in next week's standings to get an automatic BCS berth. The Warriors also can earn a berth by finishing in the top 16 and have a higher ranking than one of the champions of the BCS conferences.

The Warriors (11-0) won their first outright Western Athletic Conference championship Friday with a 39-27 victory over Boise State at Aloha Stadium. UH hosts Washington (4-8) Saturday for a chance at an undefeated regular season and a possible berth in a prestigious Bowl Championship Series game.

The standings are based on two polls — the USA Today coaches and the Harris Interactive — and six computer rankings. The Warriors are ranked No. 10 in both polls.

Missouri is No. 1 in the BCS standings, followed by West Virginia, Ohio State, Georgia and Kansas. Boise State is No. 25.

Washington comes to Honolulu after losing to cross-state rival Washington State, 42-35, in the 100th Apple Cup yesterday.
