Quarantined TB victim cleared for prosecution

Advertiser Staff

A tuberculosis victim ordered quarantined Nov. 15 was arrested on a warrant last week after being cleared by the state Health Department.

The $11,000 warrant stems from an indictment against Armenio Agustin Teodoro, 51, of Wahiawa for violating terms of his probation for an petty misdemeanor third-degree assault conviction in August. Teodoro was arrested by police Wednesday and sent to the O'ahu Community Correctional Center.

He is scheduled to appear Thursday at Family Court on Alakea Street.

Teodoro is not considered to be a public health risk if he takes his tuberculosis medication, according to the Health Department. However, the department obtained a court order to have him quarantined when it was discovered in August that he was not taking his medication, had skipped meetings with his probation officer, and was "hanging around" a known drug house, state officials said.

According to Hawai'i Criminal Justice Data Center records, Teodoro was convicted of third-degree assault and sentenced Aug. 16 to two days confinement and one-year probation. The indictment last week revoked his probation.
