Tips sought to catch Big Isle grave vandals

Vandals hit the Koki Kihoi burial site next to the North Hawai'i Comm-unity Hospital. Police are asking anyone with information to call them.

Big Island police are asking for the public's help in a criminal property damage investigation that involves the desecration of a burial site.

Authorities say that sometime between Sept. 23 and Oct. 24, vandals struck at the Koki Kihoi grave site off Pukalani Road in Waimea, next to the North Hawai'i Community Hospital.

Police released a photo of one grave site tombstone that had been spray-painted in red with a swastika inside a circle and the word "DIE."

Police are asking anyone with information about the case to contact Detective Regino Saludares at 808-326-4646, ext. 277, or the police department's non-emergency number at 808-935-3311.
