Man arrested in botched-robbery incident

Advertiser Staff

A 23-year-old man was arrested this morning after he allegedly went to another man's home and forced him to drive to an ATM to withdraw money for him.

At 5:45 a.m. a 44-year-old man was awakened by someone knocking on his bedroom window. The man went to the back door of his home where he was met by the younger man who demanded money.

The older man said he told the younger man that he had nothing but would be willing to drive to a nearby ATM and withdraw money. The younger man then reportedly allowed the older man to get into his car and drive to an ATM while he followed in another car.

While driving to the ATM, the older man called police, and responding officers arrested the younger man on suspicion of second-degree robbery.

Four arrested after Honolulu-area traffic stop

Four people between the ages of 19 and 39 were arrested last night in the Honolulu area after officers reportedly found them in possession of crystal methamphetamine and driving a stolen car.

At 11:16 p.m. a patrol officer pulled over the car the group was riding in because its headlights were out. A license plate records check noted that the car had been reported as stolen. The officer then arrested the car's occupants without incident, police said. A check of the car revealed small amounts of crystal methamphetamine.

The four people who were in the car when the officer pulled it over were arrested on suspicion of car theft, breaking into a car, possession of a dangerous drug, and several outstanding warrants.

Honolulu police have opened a first-degree sexual assault case in connection with the attack.
