Wahiawa man struck by car while pushing motorcycle

A 25-year-old Wahiawa man was arrested early Sunday morning under suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicant and also for causing negligent injury.

Police said at at about 11:30 Saturday night the suspect was driving a 1993 Toyota Corolla when he struck a 23-year-old Wahiawa man who was pushing his motorcycle through a crosswalk on Kunia Road.

Police said the motorcycle had broken down and the victim was wearing his helmet as he pushed the cycle through the crosswalk. He suffered a broken wrist and compound fracture to his right leg when he was struck by the Toyota Corolla. The victim was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in serious condition.

Police said it is unknown if the the suspect was wearing a seat belt or if speed and drugs were factors.
