Water main break on Vineyard Blvd. closes traffic lanes

Advertiser Staff

Board of Water Supply officials this afternoon are urging motorists driving 'Ewa-bound on North Vineyard Boulevard to find an alternate route as crews work to repair a broken 12-inch main at 420 North Vineyard Blvd.

Only one 'Ewa-bound lane — the farthest makai-bound lane — on North Vineyard Boulevard remains open between 'A'ala and Liliha streets.

All town-bound lanes are open.

Special duty police officers are on scene helping to direct traffic.

The break, which was reported just before 1:30 p.m., has left one business without water, officials said. The main was installed in 1958. It is unknown at this time how long the repair will take.
