61st annual Christmas parade happens Dec. 6

The 61st annual Kaimuki Christmas parade will take place on Dec. 6.

The parade will start at 6 p.m. at Chaminade University and travel up Wai'alae Avenue to Koko Head Avenue. Two diamondhead-bound lanes will be closed and traffic will be contra-flowed along Wai'alae Avenue. Drivers should expect delays.

The event is sponsored by the Kaimuki Business and Professional Association.

Participants in the parade will include Mayor Mufi Hannemann, the Royal Hawaiian Band and Santa Claus. The event will also feature the lighting of the Kaimuki Christmas tree on top of Menehune Hill near the fire station.
